Ingredients

  • 4 sourdough bread slices
  • 4 figs, cut into thin rounds
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese
  • 1-2 tablespoons honey
  • 6-8 pecan nuts (or walnuts), finely chopped
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1 teaspoon unsalted butter to make caramelised nuts

Directions

  1. In a toaster, toast the bread slices until lightly golden on both sides. Spread 1/2 a tablespoon of cream cheese on each toast.
  2. Now add 3-4 fig slices to every toast. Drizzle some honey, top it with pecan nuts and it’s done. Serve immediately!

Tips:

  • Caramelised nuts: In a small pan, melt butter on low heat. Add sugar and stir regularly until it melts completely. Add cinnamon and mix well. Add nuts and coat them evenly in the syrup. Switch off the gas. Separate the nuts from each other and let them rest in the pan for 5 minutes.
  • To make a vegan version, use vegan cream cheese, vegan butter, and maple syrup.
